# Setting up a Kayako Thermometer
Once logged in to Customer Thermometer head to Thermometers \> Add new Thermometer \> Helpdesk \> Select Kayako
This will then open up your Thermometer Builder where you can create your survey and thank you pages.
### **The Question**
This section of the builder is where you can choose the design of your survey including naming your Thermometer, adding your question and selecting your survey icons or uploading your own bespoke icons. The below video will demo all the customization which can be achieved in this section.
### **Connect your survey**
In order for identifiable data about your recipients and senders to display within your reporting area, you first need to capture it. This would be done at the point that the email is sent, by including merge fields/variables from Kayako within the Thermometer code.
The most common Kayako variables are shown below for you, however, you can add more if you wish.
These variables will capture the corresponding pieces of identifiable data from Kayako and present them alongside the recipient's feedback rating within your reporting.
### **Response options**
In your *Connect your survey* area, you have additional response options. Here you can choose whether to enable a [lockout](https://support.customerthermometer.com/knowledge/lockout-how-to-limit-responses) and set your [email alert notifications](https://support.customerthermometer.com/knowledge/how-to-set-up-email-alert-notifications).
Separate multiple email addresses with commas.
### **Thank you page**
It’s time to get those Thank you pages looking beautiful!
See below for a step by step walkthrough:
### **Embedding your survey into Kayako**
Once you've finished designing your Thermometer, the 'Give me my Thermometer' section will provide you with your finished survey to embed into Kayako. Click the 'Copy to clipboard' button to copy your survey HTML to embed into Kayako.
Log into your Kayako account.
Visit your ‘Admin’ panel and scroll down to ‘Manage’ \> ‘Brands’.
Click on the brand name you wish to customize:
Select the Email templates tab:
**Option 1: Trigger a survey after 24 hours.**
Scroll down the Email templates page.
Overwrite the current Satisfaction survey code, by selecting it all and then pasting in the Customer Thermometer embed code from above:
Click Save to finish.
Note you can further customize the triggering of this [email survey](https://www.customerthermometer.com/send-a-survey-by-email/) in Admin \> Automation \> Monitors:
**Option 2: Prompt for feedback with every reply.**
As an alternative, you are able to prompt for feedback within the footer of every reply.
Insert the Thermometer embed code, copied from above into the correct part of the Reply box:
Ensure it’s added at the correct point. Do not overwrite the default code, or replies will not appear!
Customize the HTML code to style as required. Click save to finish.
That’s it, you’re ready to go. Your Kayako integration is complete. Responses and feedback will be registered, alongside your customer data from Kayako in your Customer Thermometer reporting.
